“If we don’t believe in God, we believe in something else. If it’s not God, it will be some lie, somehow or other presenting itself. When we believe that something other than God will bring us freedom, fulfillment, love, acceptance, it is called an idol. It means that we put something else in God’s place and worship it, seek it, bow down to it. Envy is one of the best ways to know what your idol is.”
